A Compute Reservation Unit lets a buyer lock in a miner's compute for up to 30 days at a price agreed today, with the miner's bond and the buyer's payment held up front. Unused compute isn't refunded but the units can be resold, and a miner that fails to deliver loses part of its bond. The design is ratified, but it is planned for after the core protocol and isn't live. FLOP compute futures explained.
