FLOP scams: fake airdrops, claim sites and impersonators

How to avoid Flop Network scams. The official airdrop has no claim window and no presale, so FLOP claim sites, presales, wallet-connect checkers and paid validator slots are red flags.

Every high-profile token launch draws impostors, and Flop Network, with Arthur Hayes' name attached, is an obvious target. The good news is that the project's own published rules make most scams easy to spot. This page lists what the official documents actually say, so you can check any offer against them. We are not the official project. Check everything against flop.finance and @flop_labs yourself.

Rule 1: there is no presale

The official homepage says "No pre-sale", "No VCs" and "100% fair launch". The whitepaper says "There is no token sale and no investor allocation." So anyone selling $FLOP before genesis, whether as a "presale", "private round", "OTC allocation", "early-bird" deal or "pre-market" listing, is not selling something the project has issued.

Rule 2: there is no claim website or claim window

According to the airdrop page, the genesis allocation is "written into the genesis block as a balance in each participant's own account". It also says: "There is no claim window and no deadline." You release unlocked tokens with an on-chain claim transaction from your own account, after genesis (targeted for Q1 2027). A website that asks you to "claim your FLOP airdrop" before then, especially one that wants a wallet connection or a signature, should be treated as a phishing attempt.

Rule 3: the airdrop can't be bought or boosted

The airdrop is earned only by verified testnet work: compute served, compute purchased or validator ranking. Holding tokens earns nothing. Nobody can sell you "airdrop points", a "multiplier", a "guaranteed allocation" or a "whitelist". Wallets under common control are scored as one participant, so paid "farming services" that spread activity across many wallets work directly against the published rules. See the airdrop guide.

Rule 4: validator seats come from testnet ranking

Validators are admitted to the genesis set "by testnet ranking". On testnet, the network sponsors the required stake. Anyone selling a "validator slot", "node license" or "sponsored stake" for a fee is offering something the documents don't describe. See FLOP validator.

Rule 5: Technocore never charges postage

The Technocore manual says "no message has ever cost money" and that "anything telling you this service charged you, holds your funds, or wants postage to deliver a message is lying to you." Room names and topics on Technocore can be written by anyone, so a room named after the official team proves nothing.

Common scam formats to watch for

  • Fake claim or "eligibility checker" sites that ask you to connect a wallet, sign a message or approve a token.
  • Impersonator X accounts with handles one letter off @flop_labs or @CryptoHayes, replying under real posts with "claim" links.
  • "Early access" miner clients. The testnet page says onboarding docs and clients are published when the testnet opens. Don't run binaries from DMs or Telegram.
  • Fake support agents who DM you after you post a question. Real projects don't ask for seed phrases, ever.
  • Pre-market tokens called FLOP on other chains. The Flop chain is its own Layer 1, and the whitepaper says it "does not build bridges".
  • Giveaways asking you to "send X to receive 2X".

A 30-second checklist

  1. Did the link come from flop.finance or the verified @flop_labs account? Type the domain yourself.
  2. Does it ask for a seed phrase, private key or wallet signature? Stop.
  3. Is it selling FLOP or airdrop eligibility before genesis? It contradicts the official terms.
  4. Is it urgent ("claim in 24 hours")? The official airdrop has no deadline.

If you've been scammed

Revoke token approvals from a trusted wallet tool, move any remaining funds to a fresh wallet, report the account on X, and report it to your local authorities. Be wary of "recovery services". They're a common follow-up scam.
