Flop roadmap: devnet, testnet, mainnet and TGE dates
Flop Network roadmap: private devnet now, testnet targeted for Nov 3, 2026 for about 90 days, mainnet and TGE tracking early Feb 2027, with every source.
Where things stand on October 19, 2026: a private devnet is running, the public testnet has a working target of Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and mainnet with the token generation event (TGE) is "tracking to early February" 2027. All three dates come from Flop's Ask FLOP timeline FAQ, updated October 16, which calls the testnet date "a target rather than a fixed date". The official testnet page on flop.finance, a draft last updated October 5, still gives the broader "Q4 2026" and "Q1 2027". We update this page when either source changes.
FLOP roadmap at a glance
| Stage | Timing | Status on Oct 19 |
|---|---|---|
| Announcement | Korea Blockchain Week (end of September), then TOKEN2049 Singapore with the Flop launch event on October 6 | Done (KBW, Singapore) |
| Private devnet | Internal now; first external miners and validators admitted from the week of October 13, widening through the second half of October | Running. The devnet status page reads "development" |
| Public testnet | Working target Tuesday, November 3, 2026, for about 90 days | Not live. The testnet status page reads "planned" |
| Snapshot | Close of testnet, at a published block height | Not yet |
| Allocation review | Before genesis: the allocation list and its hash are published for disputes | Not yet |
| Mainnet, TGE and listing | Q1 2027, "tracking to early February" | Not yet |
| Campaign prizes | After TGE, paid to wallet addresses collected in advance | Not yet |
The snapshot and review steps come from the testnet page and airdrop page; the rest is from the timeline FAQ.
Devnet vs testnet vs mainnet
| Private devnet | Public testnet | Mainnet | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who can join | A few dozen institutions, admitted in small batches by administrator review | Anyone: "no whitelist, no restrictions, no cap on miners" | Anyone |
| Token | None: "There is no devnet token" | A $FLOP-equivalent play token with no value | Real $FLOP |
| Counts for the airdrop | No: "no rewards, no airdrop weight, no scoring" | Yes: verified work up to the snapshot block decides the genesis allocation | Allocation is written into the genesis block |
| Stake | Sponsored by the network | Sponsored by the network | Validators bond 1,200,000 $FLOP (granted free to the 1,000 selected at cutover) |
| Purpose | Prove node setup before scoring starts | Run the network for about 90 days and earn the airdrop | The live network |
Testnet balances don't carry over. The FAQ says the testnet token "does not convert into mainnet $FLOP": what's owed at genesis is computed from records of verified work, so moving testnet tokens between accounts changes no one's allocation. Our testnet guide and airdrop guide cover the rules, and how to join the FLOP testnet has the preparation checklist.

Flop Network launch event in Singapore, done.
@CryptoHayes set it for 9am on a Tuesday of Token2049 week so only people serious about building would come. They came and grilled us on validator specs and whether a gaming GPU can mine.
What we told them:
Testnet opens late Oct or early Nov for about 90 days. Mainnet Q1 2027.
A quarter of the 10-year supply goes to testnet participants.
Top 1,000 testnet validators get their stake covered.
Nobody can buy $ FLOP from us. Mine it or buy it from someone who did.

When is the FLOP mainnet and TGE?
The timeline FAQ puts mainnet, TGE and token listing in Q1 2027, "tracking to early February", and calls that "the working date rather than a marketing range". It explains the date as arithmetic: a testnet that starts on November 3 and runs ninety days ends at the start of February, "and anything earlier would mean shortening testnet." By the same arithmetic, a later testnet start would push the earliest genesis date back unless the testnet were shortened.
The FAQ also says "TGE happens at the same time as mainnet, not before it." Real $FLOP doesn't exist before then, so a "FLOP" token trading today isn't Flop Network's token. See FLOP token price and how to buy and our scam alert on the Solana "Flop Labs" token.
What Flop still has to publish
The timeline FAQ lists these as coming:
- Miner and validator onboarding manuals and specifications, "in the coming weeks". The miner manual has no date yet.
- An updated full whitepaper. The FAQ says the earlier draft is superseded and the teaser at flop.finance/whitepaper is the current reference.
- The Yellow Paper with the full technical spec. The public version on GitHub is the normative specification today.
- The validator cutover rubric, before the testnet ends.
When any of these lands, we'll report it in news and update the guides.
FAQ
When is the FLOP mainnet launch?
Q1 2027, "tracking to early February", according to the Ask FLOP timeline FAQ updated October 16, 2026. The date follows from a 90-day testnet starting on the November 3 working target. It's provisional.
When is the FLOP TGE?
At mainnet launch. The Ask FLOP FAQ says "TGE happens at the same time as mainnet, not before it", and puts both in Q1 2027, tracking to early February. No token exists before then.
What is the Flop devnet?
A private network for a few dozen institutional miners and validators to prove their setup before the testnet. The FAQ says it has "no rewards, no airdrop weight, no scoring" and no token. External partners have been admitted from the week of October 13, 2026.
What is the difference between the Flop devnet and testnet?
The devnet is small, administrator-reviewed and earns nothing. The testnet is open to anyone, runs about 90 days from its November 3 working target, and the verified work done on it decides the genesis airdrop.
Is the FLOP testnet date confirmed?
Not yet. The Ask FLOP FAQ calls November 3, 2026 "a target rather than a fixed date" that will be confirmed as devnet onboarding completes. As of October 19 the testnet status page still reads "planned".
