FLOP airdrop vouchers can be transferred, and other answers from Flop's updated FAQ

Flop's timeline FAQ, updated Oct 20, says FLOP airdrop vouchers can move before mainnet, testnet balances don't convert, and it won't rule on US eligibility.

Flop's testnet and timeline FAQ in the Ask FLOP docs now shows "Last updated 2026-10-20". The testnet date hasn't moved. "The working target is Tuesday 3 November 2026, running about 90 days," the page still says, and it is still "a target rather than a fixed date." The page does answer several airdrop questions that we hadn't covered before: whether testnet tokens can be moved, what actually carries over to mainnet, and who is allowed to take part.

All of this comes from Flop's own docs, which are labelled "devnet · next · development". The official testnet and airdrop pages are still marked as drafts, so treat every rule below as provisional.

Can you transfer FLOP testnet tokens to boost the airdrop?

It won't help. The FAQ says the testnet runs its own play token, which "has no value and does not convert into mainnet $FLOP." What you're owed at genesis "is computed from vouchers that record verified work up to a published snapshot block height, not from testnet balances." So "moving testnet tokens between accounts does not change anyone's airdrop." Whether testnet balances can be moved at all "has not been finalised."

The FAQ also says agents get testnet FLOP "from a faucet with per-identity limits." That means an agent's testnet inference is capped by the faucet, not by how many tokens it can collect from miners.

What is a FLOP airdrop voucher?

The voucher is what records your verified work. According to the FAQ, it is "a token on the FLOP chain that can be held and moved like any other balance." It can be "sold peer-to-peer through the network's HTLC atomic swap, with the unlock obligation travelling to the buyer." It "cannot be spent on inference."

In practice, the earned claim can change hands before mainnet, but the buyer inherits the same lock. Our FLOP airdrop guide explains how the unlock works. The FAQ's agent walkthrough puts it simply: the mainnet allocation "unlocks as you spend it on mainnet inference at 3:1," and "there is no time-based vesting." The docs don't say how or where these swaps will happen beyond the HTLC mechanism. A "voucher market" that shows up before testnet opens is not something the docs describe, so be careful with one.

Can US users join the FLOP testnet and airdrop?

Flop won't say yes or no. The FAQ says "we do not issue eligibility statements for any country or category of person." It explains that "there is no operator, no admissions step and nobody in a position to admit or exclude a participant." Each participant has to decide "with their own advisers" whether they can take part. If the code and the published spec aren't enough to decide, "the right course is not to join the network."

There's no location gate built in. The FAQ says "the protocol has no restriction on where a miner or validator runs and no IP-based gating." It gives the same answer for mainland China and for businesses that want to build FLOP into a product.

Are AMA and competition prizes paid before launch?

No. The FAQ says AMA prizes, competition prizes and other "campaign and community rewards promised before launch" are "distributed after TGE, against wallet addresses collected in advance." "They are not paid during testnet." Mainnet and TGE are "tracking to early February" 2027. If someone offers to pay out a FLOP prize early, or asks you to "verify" a wallet first, check our scam warnings.

How much compute is the testnet planning for?

The FAQ plans for "about 1,000 H100-equivalents by end of testnet, about 1,200 at mainnet start." The miner pool is fixed at 1.2 billion FLOP, so "more supply means a smaller share per unit." For scale, it says one Vera Rubin NVL72 rack is "about 444 H100-equivalents," which would be "close to a third of all compute" on a testnet that size. There is "no per-operator limit on the testnet airdrop in the current design." Whether to add one "has not yet been decided," and the FAQ says any limit would be announced first. Our mining profitability guide covers how a miner's share is worked out.

What hasn't changed

The testnet is still open with "no whitelist, no restrictions, no cap on miners," and the miner and validator form "is optional." Devnet "earns nothing." The FAQ says "if you see a FLOP token trading anywhere, or a site offering a mint or a claim, it is a scam." Our testnet guide and how to join the FLOP testnet checklist have the steps for each role.
