Ask FLOP: Arthur Hayes invites questions for the Flop mascot
Arthur Hayes asks people to chat with the Flop Labs mascot at Ask FLOP. Its answers draw on 34 published FLOP docs pages and FAQs, each cited or refused.
Arthur Hayes is sending people to Flop's documentation assistant. "Come chat to @flop_labs mascot and get your questions answered," the Flop Labs CEO wrote on X on October 20, 2026. "All responses based on published documentation and FAQ." The post links to ask.flop.finance and includes a screenshot of the page. About two hours later the @flop_labs account quoted it with two words: "ask anything".

— Arthur Hayes (@CryptoHayes) October 20, 2026What is Ask FLOP?
Ask FLOP is a chat page on Flop's own flop.finance domain. Its tagline reads "Ask the docs", and the footer says "Answers are cited, or the assistant says it does not know" and "Nothing you type is stored in this browser." The screenshot in Hayes' post shows the FLOP logo, a cyan robot mascot with long ears, an "Ask about FLOP" text box and a link to the Operator hub. It also shows microphone and phone buttons beside the Send button. Hayes didn't say what they do, and we haven't tested them.
We covered the assistant when it first appeared, in our report on the testnet being "a few weeks" away. What's new is that Hayes is now promoting it himself and presenting the mascot as a way to get questions answered.
What can the mascot answer?
The assistant only works from a fixed set of pages. Its page index lists 34 "curated, human-authored" pages and says each one is "the same text the assistant at https://ask.flop.finance is allowed to quote, and the same text it cites." The pages cover proof of useful inference, tokenomics, staking and slashing, governance, operator guides and several FAQs. The FAQs include a general FAQ, separate miner and validator FAQs, and a testnet and launch timeline FAQ. The index also lists a machine endpoint for agents at ask.flop.finance/mcp.
The docs are labelled "devnet · next · development". The Operator hub says "Public operator enrollment is unavailable until the network identity and release are verified." You can read how mining and validating will work. You can't join a public network yet.
What the docs say about the testnet and airdrop
Questions about dates will most likely be answered from the timeline FAQ, last updated October 16. It says "the working target is Tuesday 3 November 2026, running about 90 days," and calls this "a target rather than a fixed date." It puts mainnet, TGE and token listing in Q1 2027, "tracking to early February", and says TGE happens at the same time as mainnet. We covered that page in detail in FLOP testnet date: November 3 working target. Our testnet guide and Flop roadmap track the dates.
For airdrop questions, the assistant draws on the airdrop and testnet conversion page. That page describes a 1,200,000,000 FLOP pool for testnet miners, allocated on verified compute. It also says the rules are "ratified but not yet built". Our FLOP airdrop guide explains the terms.
Use the official address only
The real assistant lives at ask.flop.finance, the address in Hayes' post. If an account in the replies offers its own FLOP chat bot, a "claim" link or a token sale, treat it as a scam. The official site says there is no FLOP presale. Check our official FLOP links and scam warnings before you connect a wallet anywhere.
